How to Install
Installing your decals is an easy process that will not only enhance the appearance of your item but also ensure a smooth and professional look. All our decals come pre-spaced on a paper backing and are covered with a protective transfer tape, similar to masking tape. This tape holds the design in place during application, making installation quick and easy.
Important Before You Start!
During shipping, the application tape on top of your decal may lift slightly, causing small wrinkles or tunnels beneath the graphic. Before installation, it’s essential to lay the graphic flat and use a squeegee (or plastic card) to firmly press the application tape down to re-establish a strong bond between the tape and vinyl decal. Taking this precaution ensures a smooth, successful application.
Step-by-Step Installation:
What You’ll Need:
• Your vinyl decal
• A clean, smooth surface
• A measuring tape or ruler
• A squeegee or credit card (for smoothing out any bubbles)
• A clean, lint-free cloth
- Clean the Surface: Clean the area where you’ll apply the decal. Use a mild soap and water solution to remove any dirt, oil, or wax, and dry the area thoroughly with a lint-free cloth.
- Ensure a Smooth Surface: Make sure the surface is free of debris to ensure proper adhesion.
- Measure and Position: Use a measuring tape or ruler to determine the best location for your decal. If applying a larger design, consider using masking tape to temporarily hold the decal in place before permanently applying it.
- Peel the Backing: Carefully peel away the backing from the decal, taking care not to touch the adhesive side.
- Apply the Decal: Starting from one edge, gently place the decal onto the prepared surface. For larger decals, apply one section at a time, smoothing from the center outwards to avoid air bubbles.
- Smooth and Press: Use a squeegee or a credit card to press the decal firmly into place. Start from the center and work your way outwards, applying even pressure to eliminate air bubbles. For stubborn bubbles, gently lift the decal and reapply.
- Peel Off the Transfer Tape: Once the decal is fully adhered, carefully peel away the transfer tape at a 45-degree angle, being gentle to avoid lifting the edges. If there are any remaining air bubbles, smooth them out with the squeegee.
Remember: Let the decal set for at least 24 hours before exposing it to heavy water or sun to allow the adhesive to bond fully.
